MAY 15, 2025 SURVEY RESULTS
GREEN ENERGY, PROPERTY RIGHTS & WHAT'S BEST FOR MICHIGAN -- There is a push to upgrade Michigan's power grid. The landowners in Clinton County and other parts of the state will be facing impactful changes to their land and potential impacts in their daily lives. Are you in favor of the state and private companies using private property owners land to install these new high powered lines to increase electrical capacity and move toward more green energy?
(2)Yes -- Michigan needs to do all they can to stop global warming/climate change.
(2) Yes -- It's for the greater good
(20) No -- The Green Energy mandate and agenda are not a solution to solving our energy needs
(16) No -- Property rights should not be abridged by the State's right of eminent domaIn
(16) No -- Climate change is a scam
(1) Undecided
POWER GRID COMMENTS:
-- "Green Energy" is misleading wind and solar are not cost effective and do NOT create a reliable consistent production of energy (no full time wind or no full time sun). They can not be adjusted to meet demand and are vulnerable to bad weather. They require in case of fire dangerous storage facilities when and if they exceed demand. Fuel based energy production is easily adjusted any time day or night to meet the demand at any point in time.
-- Green energy needs to support itself. Not get paid for by the government.
-- I have no clue where this green energy thing is going at the moment. A better grid is good in theory. But if it makes a future solar and wind rust belt worse. Then it's a bad thing.
-- No on the power grid that will tear up Michigan's productive farms and woodlots. It is only considered to be necessary because of the highly subsidized wind and solar that is proposed. Neither makes any sense. The wind is at a medium level at best through central Michigan. The amount of sunlight is the second poorest in the U.S.. These facts prove how totally political this scam is!!
-- There is so much evidence that climate change is a scam. Climate change is inevitable they are just using it as a scare tactic. Look up Piri Reis Map of Antarctica. It proves climate change was a thing before Industrial Revolution.
-- You are publishing a false narrative. Green energy projects have nothing to do with extending the power grid. Power companies abide by State and Federal laws and mandates.

MI HOUSE LIKES PORK! -- It has been the practice for years that legislators make requests at budget time for their special interests back in their home districts to give favor and garner potential votes as part of that process. It is a know fact that at crunch time those projects may or may not get approved based upon the fact that you may have top trade your vote to get your pork approved in the final budget. Do you think that these earmarks should be allowed for legislators to bargain for votes?
(5) Yes -- Earmarks are a tool to make sure individual legislators get their projects approved back in the district.
(28) No -- The pork process for votes needs to end. It is an abuse of our tax dollars.
(13) No -- It's time for a part time legislature.
(4) Undecided
MI HOUSE PORK COMMENTS:
-- I'm grateful the House has brought more transparency to this process. Doing so helps show the public which asks are frivolous and which ones are actually meaningful. For example Rep. Kelly put in an ask for funding for the bridge in Maple Rapids that's near critical condition. If that bridge goes out it will be devastating to the community economy. I personally don't consider this isn't "pork" and I am happy to see he's fighting for funding for a huge priority to our county.
-- Pork projects have been a feature of the US Government forever. Getting rid of them is impossible. The best we can reasonably do is make our pork better than their pork. Example: Bad pork = millions of dollars for "Cultural Centers". Less bad pork = millions of dollars to pave rural roads the few people use.
-- One item on a bill at a time. Keep it simple stupid
-------------------------------------------------------
THE MEDC AND LEAP REDISTRIBUTION OF STATE MONEY -- $2,270,000 of our tax dollars were redistributed back to the mid-Michigan area. These tax dollars the went to various recipients who were able to make improvements in their communities. Should the MEDC and LEAP be redistributing State Tax Dollars to local communities?
(6) Yes -- Local communities can use the help for local projects and improvements.
(18) No -- Local communities should be responsible for improvements in their communities.
(26) No -- MEDC and LEAP should not be picking winners and losers
(5) Undecided
MEDC/LEAP MONEY DISTRIBUTION COMMENTS:
-- Free market is king. If something needs subsidizing there's not enough demand to make it make sense.
-- How has Clinton County benefitted? It seems like we get nothing we want. The Eagle Megasite was a scam that they tried to ram down our throat. Can we get more local roads paved and fixed in Clinton County?
-- LEAP does not distribute money. They seek grants on behalf of municipalities. Anyone can seek a grant.
-- LEAP should have no influence on how our tax Dollars are used.
-- Local communities receive state tax dollars via revenue sharing payments each year calculated by the Dept. of Treasury. Not knowing the specific projects or the process used to redistribute the $2.3 million makes it difficult to respond to this question. There are many grant programs offered through the State of Michigan that benefit communities with projects. How the grant program is operated can be questionable.
-- They are going to spend the money either way so why not get something for it? I can think of a project that would actually be useful. Paving the Fred Meijer trail and upgrading the trail so that Golf Carts could use it. This would allow elderly people in the northern part of Clinton County drive golf carts on a protected trail after they have to stop driving a car for safety reasons. Allowing them to stay in their homes longer and out of expensive elder care facilities.
-- Very confusing
-- Very much not impressed with MEDC and LEAP after they managed to throw away millions of taxpayer dollars in the failed Eagle Megasite. Thank God for the failure. What a shame for the waste of our money. Who ended up getting all of the money?
